Master Time, Master Life

Here are some useful suggestions and tips regarding Time Management…

Failing to plan is planning to fail:
Decide your priorities well. Planning is essential. Manage time creatively. Be determined and disciplined to focus your time around your priorities. By using the faculty of discrimination, make sure that the most meaningful things in your life should not be sacrificed to those that are least meaningful.

Do not allow your being become a fragmented personality:
Take a comprehensive look at every dimension of your life, be it a personal, social, or spiritual development goal. Here, proper prioritization is absolutely essential. This necessarily calls for giving up living life in compartments. Develop a firm understanding that whatever you do forms one indivisible whole. Your conduct and behaviour at home affects the way you act at your work place. Your treatment of people at the work place affects the way you will treat your family members. It is utterly absurd to presume that efficient time management is focussing at the workplace and discarding it at closing hours. Consider it as an all-encompassing system in which all dimensions of life are impacted to make life more fulfilling and balanced.

Spend time in High-impact activities:
Make sure that you expend your time on activities, which have a lasting value. Activities, which yield real and lasting results, should take the major slice of your time. It is these activities that influence the quality of your life. It is not quantity in terms of number of years but quality in terms of time spent in value-addition, i.e. life lived well, which counts and leaves a lasting impression. Quality of life depends on time spent in ‘high-impact’ activities. Time spent in superfluous and frivolous activities is sheer wastage of time.

Of all the good activities, which add to the quality of life, time spent in spiritual pursuits counts for everything. Whether you are a nature lover or not, time spent in connecting with nature and showing gratitude for all that you are so fortunate to have is indeed highly enriching. Even time spent with spouse and children is a ‘high-impact’ activity, as it nourishes relationships and makes for a well-knit family. All said and done, time spent in ‘renewing’ your mind, your body, and (most importantly) your soul is highest among the ‘high-impact’ activities, as it greatly helps in spiritual pursuits and the ultimate goal of spiritual enlightenment. These ‘high-impact’ activities enable one to design the kind of life he wishes or deserves. So, wisdom lies in directing all your time to such activities that count in the long run. The sum and substance is that enlightened people are priority driven.

Cultivate ‘deathbed mentality’:

A highly potent weapon, which all serious time management seekers should arm themselves with, is cultivating a ‘deathbed mentality.’ It is a very practical way of looking at life. This mentality reminds you again and again that today could be your last day; so you should savour it to the fullest. It teaches you to live life as if it was your last day. It enables one to live every moment to the maximum. This ‘deathbed mentality’ serves as the biggest question of one’s life’s purpose. So, this question has the power to change your life in the direction that benefits you the most. It protects you from the destructive habit of procrastination. It energises your days and creates a rush of zest and zeal to all that you do. You start focusing on meaningful things that you have been putting off. You learn to stop squandering time on petty pursuits. Thus, this mentality saves you from getting bogged down into a quagmire of crisis and chaos.

Acquire and employ the most-effective tool, and mastering time naturally comes to you:
In one’s personal odyssey, one can learn to master time by employing the tools of dedication, determination, and discrimination; yet this art of personal government, i.e. self-improvement, is best learnt and imbibed if the secret of knowing and realising the true self within is revealed to you. And, it is possible through imparting of Divine Knowledge by a genuine preceptor capable of putting you through the transcendental experience of DIVINITY.

Upon such trans-dichotomous experiences, one enters the realm of understanding that he is not merely a human being having a spiritual experience but a spiritual being having a human experience. Through the light of Divine Knowledge, one acquires a new realisation that he is not just in the world but the world is in him. On being tuned to his inner voice, his life is naturally attributed with the skill of time management and its efficient utilisation, and is thus tracked on the roads of perfection & success.

Mastering time and, in turn, mastering life presupposes learning the art of aligning and attuning with the Divine. Implicit in it is the supreme art of inward looking through the Divine Eye, awakened at the time of Brahm Gyan. It is regular meditation through this Divine Eye on divine light inside that is the key to living life in God-consciousness amidst the chaotic conditions all around. Once you are God-attuned, anything you do has to be the best. Be that then managing time or managing life!
