A Safari to the Mysterious Animal Kingdom

Ever heard of any in-out relationship between Eyes and Stomach?

A CROCODILE has a peculiar digestive system. The moment anything enters into its stomach, tears start dripping out from its eyes! What an unusual chemistry!

Friends, this is what I wish to tell you… Tears, which lack warmth of emotions or sentiments, are nothing more than the drops of salty water. You must have heard of a sarcastic phrase bearing my name, often attached to 'fictitious tears'… It is- 'crocodile tears'!

How faithfully do you adhere to the tips of health and hygiene in your everyday life?

Are you familiar with the RACCOON? It bears a strong resemblance to a pussycat. However, unlike a cat, a raccoon eats wild fruits and seeds but in a commendable manner! Yes, it always washes and cleans its food in the river water before eating.

Because, I know and value the importance of cleanliness and sattwikta for leading a healthy life. You too should never compromise in this regard. Always remember a mathematical equation that 'Hygiene + Vegetarianism = Fit Body + Healthy Mind'.

**********************************************************************************
How many brains do you possess?

Of course, we all know very well that we have one brain. But, how many brains does a SILKWORM possess? … 2,3,4,… No! Go on incrementing the counter till it becomes 11. Yes! 11 brains in total! Can you just imagine?

Beware! I wish to alert you all with a cautionary suggestion that don't you ever run your wisdom-free mind in sewing a labyrinth of arguments. Else, you too would get trapped in the mesh of a cocoon as I entangle myself!

**********************************************************************************
How much weight can you lift?

Let's say that you weigh 'x' kilograms. Just try to find out the weight that you can lift in proportion to 'x'. Let's now repeat the exercise for an ant and compare the results. How much weight do you think that a little-trifle ant can lift? … Just hold your breaths… A staggering figure of 50 times its own weight!

That's right! I can easily carry things huge in proportion compared to my own dimensions. Reason being that I possess a never-say-die spirit. What if I have thin, hair-like legs! But, my resolution is strong, enormous, and mountain-like.

Can you walk on a blade's edge?

Ouch!- This will be the instant exclamation, suffused with pain and drops of blood, if someone accidentally happens to run even his finger on the sharp edge of a blade. But does it apply to all or is there any exception? Yes! The great snail stands different! It can very easily and freely walk on the sharp edge of a razor!

Actually, there is a secret behind this peculiar characteristic of mine. When I walk, I release a viscous, gluey fluid called mucus; and, also, keep myself encased in a thick covering called mantle… Hey! I have heard that your path of bhakti is also like a sword's edge! So, take my smart advice- Generate the divine fluid of Devotion and cover yourself with a defensive shield of the Master's Commandments! Then for sure, you will enjoy a smooth, frictionless skating through the sharp edge, which is otherwise difficult and a challenging one!

INVITATION FOR NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS

Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan extends hearty wishes to all on the auspicious occasion of Indian New Year on 16th March, 2010. We take this grand opportunity to invite all our blog readers on 21st March, 2010 at Divya Dham Ashram(Qutubgarh Road, Punjab Khore), where His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji will enlighten us about the profound richness of Indian Culture through His invaluable words of wisdom. So, come and drench yourself in the holy showers of His blessings!

Heartiest New Year Wishes to All!

Possibly, many of you would have been confounded by these wishes. You must be wondering that it has been more than two months when we celebrated New Year on 1st January, 2010. So, how come renowned new year eve is being celebrated in the month of March!

But, dear readers, how many of you are aware of the fact that the aroma of sanctity rising from India's land, sky's scintillating stars and this whole universe is extending its hearty wishes to you on the dawn of the new year on the 16th of this month. India's rich heritage– our great saints and the holy treatises– all are bestowing their New Year wishes on this very day. According to our Indian calendar, Shukla pratipada of the month of Chaitra, i.e. 16th March this time, marks the beginning of the New Year for India. This time, it is going to be the 2067 th ‘Shobhana’ Samvatsar.

Honestly answer, were you aware about this New Year prior? If not, then, now that you have come to know about it, would you honour this day and consider it as the beginning of the New Year? And, if you already knew about it, would you have celebrated it with the same fervour as you celebrate the eve of 1st January? These are few questions that have been often getting a negative response. So, in order to discontinue this trend and furnish the foundations for the day when every Indian would respond affirmatively to such questions, we here present some rekindling facts and rational thoughts from His supremacy Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji.

According to the Indian calendar, on the day of chaitra shukla pratipada, the vibrancy, fervour, and freshness is automatically reflected from each and every particle of Nature. Not one but many ideologies declare it to be the first day of the New Year. For instance:

Nature dances and rejoices!

On the onset of Chaitra Shukla, extreme brutal cold nearly dies down. Cold dry winds turn into sweet, free flowing air. For the spring season, poet Kalidasa beautifully says– ‘सर्वंप्रिये चारूतरम बसन्ते!’ Shri Krishna remarks in the Holy Gita - "Amidst all seasons, I am the ‘spring’!" On the eve of Chaitra Shukla, supremacy of the spring season prevails and rules over the nature. New petals unfold on the branches. Flowers boom with sweet nectar. The rainbow colours of spring are seen everywhere. Bright sunny days elongate and dark nights become shorter. Each and every atom dances with new excitement and enthusiasm, as if it is ready to march ahead with new resolutions. The environment depicting this kind of aura, awareness, and progress certainly assures of the arrival of New Year time.

Season of Celebrations All Around!

With the beginning of Chaitra, from Kashmir to Kerala, festive mood spills all over. ‘Nauroj’ or ‘Navreh’ in Jammu & Kashmir, ‘Vaishakhi’ in Punjab, ‘Gudi Padwa’ in Maharashtra, ‘Yugadi’ in Andhra Pradesh, ‘Cheti Chand’ in Sindh, ‘Vishu’ in Kerela, ‘Rongali Bihu’ in Assam, ‘Poyala Vaishakh’ in Bengal, ‘Puthundu’ in Tamil Nadu– all of these festivities truly revive India's socio-cultural spirit. These festivals signal the dawn of the New Year in the real sense. During this time, Navratra also begins and all over India, Goddess Jagadamba's prayers laud loud. Hence, Chaitra Shukla is marked as the onset of the New Year with India's socio-cultural pride soaring high with rejuvenated spirits.

A Day of Historic Eminence!

If we look at historic dates and events, Chaitra Shukla pratipada appears as a queen of all. According to India's astrological calculations, on this day only, Lord Brahma created universe. It is described in the Brahman Puran that on this day, the process of creation of universe began-

चैत्रे मसि जगद ब्रह्मा ससर्ज प्रथमे अहनि
शुक्लपक्षे समग्रे तु सदा सूर्योदये सति

The 190th verse of the tenth chapter of Rigveda is evident in this context– samudraadarnavaadadhi samvatsaro ajaayata– meaning, from the gigantic oceanic waves sprang forth the Samvatsara. According to Smriti Kaustubh, on this auspicious day only, Lord Narayana incarnated Himself as Matsya avatar. It was on this pious day that Lord Rama was enthroned as the King of Ayodhya. In Dwaapar Yuga, Yudhishthira was also sworn in as the King on this day. This day is celebrated as the day of incarnation of the second Guru of Sikhs, Shri Guru Angad Dev Ji and saint Jhulelal of Sindh. Swami Dayanand Saraswati, as well, set the foundation stone of Arya Samaj on this benign day.

With such auspicious features on this brilliant and well-timed occasion, what to say if we, spirited by new resolutions, set the beginning of our day as the commencement of New Year! The need is to re-vitalise and revivify the respect for our Indian culture in the heart of every individual. And, so we all should celebrate our Indian New Year and melodise it with our traditional songs to impart new heights to our cultural evolution!

Moreover, if you feel that celebrating our own New Year would mean singing our own tunes and standing odd one out from the rest of the world, then please pay attention and analyse on the following three aspects:

1. If Japan can celebrate, in the native traditional style, its New Year day on its conventional date; If Myanmar can celebrate in the mid of April its New Year day ‘Tijaan’; Iran celebrates in mid of March its new year day ‘Nauroj’; China, according to Lunar calendar, celebrates during Jan 21- Feb21 its New Year day as Asrian; Thai and Cambodian people celebrate their new year in the month of April... then why we Indians can't celebrate the new year day on Chaitra Shukla pratipada according to our Indian calendar, Panchang?

2. If all our financial transactions and budget, the sessions in the schools and educational institutes, etc. consider 1st April as the day of commencement of the New Year, then why don’t we actually celebrate the beginning of the New Year on the day of Chaitra Shukla Pratipadha, which falls near around this period only?

3. If we abide by Panchang for all our auspicious rituals, fasts, marriages, festivities and other festivals, then why not the first day of every year?
