This month when the world will be celebrating the English New Year to usher into a new set of days on a calendar, the Akhand Gyan Blog of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan is a clarion call to the entire world to enter into a New Era! An era, where ‘Divine Peace’ reigns supreme!

Blessings In Guise of Words!

In reality, every moment of ‘Divya Shanti Mahotsav 2010’ was divine and celestial. Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji’s holy words resonated with the exclusive shades of affection for His disciples. His conversation was settling in their hearts directly. He was knocking at the depths of their inner portals. It appeared as if His benevolence had taken the shape of a cloud about to rain the heavenly blessings. And, when those heavenly showers poured, every single disciple got drenched in them; each mind was dripping wet; none remained untouched by the torrents of His mercy. Some drops from those blissful showers of His divine revelations are reproduced below:

“All of you have been blessed with Brahm Gyan for a great cause. You have to fulfill that great purpose, for which it was bestowed upon you. A lot has to be done for the society, nation, and the whole world from various platforms. Now, it is in your hands to transform this era from Kaliyuga (Iron Age) to Satyuga (Golden Age) where peace and brotherhood would reign supreme… If you wish, you can roll the Planet Earth to the nethermost depths. You have the power to change the direction of the tempest storms hitting the sky. You are the beholders of that infinite power. Once Archimedes said, “I will move the world, if I get that standpoint.” You have that standpoint within you. It has been revealed to you through the eternal technique of Brahm Gyan. All that you need to do is to make its appropriate use.

…Mutual love, noble feelings, and unity– these are the ornaments of the assembly of devotees blessed with Brahm Gyan. Therefore, maintain mutual goodwill. Progress with oneness, shoulder to shoulder, and with a co-operative attitude. Remember, where there is unity, victory shines bright. The Goddess Durga has one head and a number of hands. On the contrary, Ravana had ten heads and two hands. You know, ultimately who was victorious! Ravana had to face utter defeat. Why? Because– “Munde-Munde Matirbhinna”– as many heads so many opinions, and an equal number of conflicts! And mutual conflicts mean a certain invitation to defeat. As for Goddess, victory was on her side forever.

One needs to learn an important lesson from this comparison. When all do sewa (service) with one mind, with one inspiration, with one feeling, and with one mission, when all work for one goal– only then victory is certain, otherwise not!"

Panoramic View of India

-Unity in Diversity

Truly a celestial feeling it was, when I heard scintillating musical notes, entwined in different regional languages, from one dais! This raised platform was embellished to celebrate– Divya Shanti Mahotsav (Divine Peace Mega-festival). Are you eager to know, who am I? I am bent and stooped “Sky” spread over hundreds of acres of land– the venue of mega-festival of divine peace. I was witness to such an exquisite dais from which echoed voices coloured in different shades and hues; sometimes came rants of Vedic hymns and inditions (compositions of wisdom) and sometimes resonated azaan (a call of a Mohammedans in a mosque for prayers) and aayats from Islamic faith; at other times musical notes of folk songs of Marathi, Garhwali, Bhojpuri, followed by Sufi and Punjabi devotional songs suffused the surroundings with pulsations of devotion.

Undoubtedly, it was a unique congregation of inquisitives and followers of India’s culture of every shade & caste, creed and community. Years ago, an English author– Isabel Allende had said– “Peace requires everyone to be in circle– Wholeness, Inclusion.” This implies that everyone has to subsume in the circle of unity; for peace to reign supreme. Divya Shanti Mahotsav (Divine Peace Mega-Festival) clearly seemed to be one such circle drawn by His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji.

Beyond the boundaries of this auspicious circle, when I look down at the society, I find it fragmented, divided and torn into pieces. The earth flourishing under my shade has so many boundaries that despite being sky, I can’t count them.

I clearly see that man of today does not show affinity with people of other religions, castes, creeds, and communities. He does not even hesitate from stooping down to confrontation, communal riots, and bloodshed. Due to this discriminatory mindset, the history has been witness to numerous bloody battles to such an extent that the stains of blood have dappled and smudged me (the sky) all over. On top of the list of all disputes is the horrible monster called– ‘Terrorism’. My wet eyes see human bombs blowing themselves off to show their animosity and disliking for people of a particular religion. I see so many rifts in society professing ‘isms’ like casteism, communalism, etc. I have been witness to an Age of Devotion also, when our revered saint Shri Ravidas Ji had said– “these castes are like layers clamped on a banana-tree. Just as the stem of a banana-tree is completely destroyed by peeling off layer after layer, even so discrimination in the name of caste and religion can annihilate the entire society.” These words of wisdom appear to have become the watch-word of the present era.

But, stop! Why am I thinking all this now? Now this watch-word is appearing to prove false. Why should I look elsewhere? Why not fix my eyes only on that fortunate part of the earth, where the divine currents of Divya Shanti Mahotsav danced? Where I saw… Every parochial feeling and divisive sentiment getting absorbed in the complete grandeur of unity! I saw… A strongly built, stout Sikh youth riding on a horse, holding and unfurling peace flag was acclaiming enthusiastically– ‘Jai Shri Ram! Jai Shri Ram!’ I saw… When a Muslim brother, from the dais, gave azaan (a call in a mosque for prayers), the whole enclosure replete with families of every sect and caste of India reverberated with clappings. I saw… When Bhojpuri devotional songs were sung from dais, even Muslim brothers sitting amidst spectators jumped and danced and the Sikh brothers hopped to the tunes of folk dance (Bhangra) full of life and agility. Responding to a devotional song in Marathi, a brother was heard after three days of the mega-event saying– “I don’t know Marathi, but the magic in the Marathi devotional song was so mesmerizing that the melodious tunes still reverberate in my ears.”

On seeing this unique display of unity in diversity, my eyes welled up and I felt proud. I got into a reverie, thinking and comparing that apart from this huge courtyard of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, how many Hindus in society feel elated on hearing azaan or seeing light of chiraag (lighted lamp) in the mosque? How many Muslim brothers taste the sweetness of reciting ‘Jai Shri Ram’? How many Sikh brothers experience the teachings of their gurus in the Vedic mantras and compositions too? I could hardly find any other single model in the society.

Ishwar, Khuda, Waheguru, God... by whatever name we may call that Supreme Being, He is essentially divine light. Even then, today we can see so many disputes, discrimination and communal hatred in His name. The sole reason is that we have not perceived and practically experienced the sovereign Truth, His elemental form– Divine Light.

His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji has applied this infallible and eternal formula. Through the divine instrument of Brahm Gyan (Divine Knowledge), He has revealed to His followers the wondrous experience of One Truth, One God. That is why, His followers see and experience the ‘One’ in ‘all’– a perfect example of unity in diversity. Barriers and shackles of discrimination have banished. This was the precise reason that the Divya Shanti Mahotsav became the dais of proclamation of Indian Rishis of yore– “Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam– the whole world is one family!”

Commonwealth Games 2010 With A Twist!

WRESTLING

Objective: To put your opponent on his back.

The Twist: Friends! This time you have to wrestle not against one but many opponents. Many opponents? Yes! The opponents of anger, lust, greed, attachment, and ego.

WEIGHTLIFTING

Objective: To lift up the weight.

The Twist: Oh! This time, the weights of corruption and unrighteousness, along with several others pressures will attempt to make you (your morals and principles) bow down. Beware! The slightest staggering from your moral values, character, and principles will make you lose this game.

SWIMMING

Objective: To reach the other shore at the fastest rate.

The Twist: Starting from one shore of materialism, you have to swim across the pool of karmas and sanskaras (past impressions). Thus, you have to reach the other shore of immortality without wasting even a single second, if you want to be the winner of this game.

ARCHERY

Objective: To shoot arrows from a bow to hit the target.

The Twist: Wow! An interesting game. But, this time the target is the 'target of life, i.e., attainment of God.' And you have to meet this target using the bow of human body. But alas! For hitting the target and hence winning the game of our life, we need the arrow of Brahm Gyan (Divine Knowledge).

Note for those wanting to be the winners:

For winning any game, we need a coach who can guide us at each step. Similarly, for playing any game of LIFE, we need a PERFECT MASTER (spiritual guru) as a coach! All the Best! May you be the winner in all life games!

Highly influenced by the distinctive ideology of DJJS and divine persona of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj ji, the September issue of Sadhna Path (a monthly magazine) comes out with a wide coverage of the organization and its founder.

Power of Words- Can Make or Break!

Someone has rightly said, “First weigh, then say.” If you really wish to know what can go wrong if the words are not gauged before their application, just throw a glance at the following sentences:

Here are the extracts of some leave/absence request letters written by the employees:

An employee applied for casual leave in the following manner:

"Since I've to go to the cremation ground at 11 o'clock and I may not return, please grant me one day casual leave."

Another employee kept his request as:
"As my father-in-law has expired and I am only one responsible for it, please grant me 20 days leave."

A leave letter to the Principal:
"As I am studying in this college I am suffering from headache. I request you to leave me today."

XYZ Enterprises, Delhi: An employee applied for leave as follows:
"Since I have to go to my hometown to sell my land along with my wife, please sanction me two weeks leave."

Some more leave letters:
>> "I am suffering from fever, please declare one-day ."
>> "My wife is suffering from sickness and as I am her only husband at home I may be granted leave."
>> "As my headache is paining, please grant me leave for the day. "
>> "Dear Sir, with reference to the above, please refer to my ."

A few more glimpses of such 'funny' blunders:

Letter writing:

"I am well here and hope you are also in the same well."

Covering note:

"Respected Sir, I am enclosed herewith..."

A candidate's job application:

"This has reference to your advertisement for a 'Receptionist and a Sales-person: Male or Female'.... As I am both (!!) for past many years and I can handle both with good experience, kindly consider my application...

So, beware! All depends upon the careful usage of words while communicating! Once the art of “WHAT”, “WHEN”, and “HOW” to speak/convey is known, things flow smooth, without being caught in jams/roadblocks of misunderstanding or ambiguity.

*****************************************************

Now, just think on a broader perspective... Does this concept not apply on our life as a whole? If we know the art of WHAT, WHY, and HOW relating to our goal in life, then, undeniably, our lives too will run on fast track, and we will be enjoying a smooth and happy ride!

Spiritually Engineered

It's a common belief that religion is a resort for the ones who are mental couch potatoes or timid – lacking the courage to face and fight the struggle for existence. Or, that it is supposed to be an escape for the blind-believers who cannot understand logics. One reason for this scepticism could be that the religion, which gained popularity over the years, was at its core far away from its true essence. Therefore, the religious practices prevalent today are stripped of their soul and purpose. The aim of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan is to sweep away the misconceptions and restore the lost grandeur of Spirituality – the science of experience. It is working towards affirming the fundamental and essential nature of all religions – which is scientific and, hence, practical.

The mission from time to time organizes spiritual workshops in the premises of various colleges and institutes.

This time we will make our blog readers visit the premises of Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT), Delhi, India. Many of the faculty members of the institute were imparted with Divine Knowledge (Brahm Gyan) by the grace of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji. So let’s hear a more profound aspect of life discovered in the tongue of technology by the engineers of MAIT.

Navneet Yadav, Senior Lecturer,
Electronics and Communication Dept.

Qs. Did you believe in the existence of God before being imparted with Divine Knowledge?

Ans. I always had this belief that there is a supernatural power which governs the cosmos and all its events. However, I never had the inclination or interest to know more about this power.

Qs. Nowadays, students are so much stressed and they go for meditation. Being their guides do you also suggest them to go for it?

Ans. I had heard of 'Meditation' and its manifold benefits for attaining a certain level of mental peace. Then, one day, I got to know from the college authorities about the spiritual workshop of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, which was to be conducted in the college premises itself. I attended the workshop sessions and was greatly inspired. The preachers explained us the true meaning of meditation. They said– “Meditation is an inner phenomenon. For it to happen, involvement of two entities – the Observer and the Target – is a must. The observer alone cannot do meditation. There has to be a target for the observer to focus upon. The highest form of meditation is to focus on the Divine Light of God. Only then, one can establish a perfect communication channel with Him. Divine Knowledge (Brahm Gyan) is the means to reveal, perceive, and realise this divine light within the self. Then, one can literally 'see' this light!” So far, I had not heard of seeing light with eyes closed. Therefore, this thought certainly aroused curiosity within me, as I wanted to concentrate on the divine light and work out a higher level of peace for myself.

Qs. Apart from the experience of Divine Light, was there any other aspect of meditation that fascinated you? Please share.

Ans. There is a very practical aspect of this meditation that literally pulled me in. Often our mind wanders in the lanes of past and future troubles. The blunders and mishaps of the past, which hardly have any significance in the present, create unnecessary pain in our minds. The fears about the distant future create pointless anxiety and weariness. Through the meditation of Brahm Gyan, a worldly person like me also learns to concentrate on the vital energy inherent in the breaths. This constant focus on the breaths holds the mind from going astray and helps it to remain active and conscious in the present. The actual happiness lies in dwelling only in the present state of affairs. Through meditation alone, we can consistently practice this.

Qs. Since you are a faculty in the Electronics and Communication Department, would you like to send a message across to the readers about how this Divine Knowledge is a scientific phenomenon?

Ans. My main subject is Digital Signal Processing (DSP). In DSP, we teach how the state of a circuit converts from '0' (No Voltage) to '1' (Up Voltage). Taking this analogy, I would like to say that although we are living in this world, we are not aware that there is an inner world too, which is infinitely more beautiful and expansive than this outer world. We all should seriously attempt to explore this inner world. For, until we attain this divine realisation, our life's circuit is in the 'dead' or zero state. On the other hand, after the attainment of Divine Knowledge from a Perfect Master, the divine signals run across our life's circuit converting it to the state of '1', pertaining to power and voltage. This state (1) is the symbol of success and happiness.

Harendra Kumar Singh, Lecturer,
Mechanical and Automation Dept.

Qs. When did you get the inspiration for Divine Knowledge?

Ans. After listening to the rational and revolutionary discourses of DJJS, I was greatly impressed. The preachers explained spiritual concepts to us in a very systematic and logical way. For example, they said that the smallest unit of matter is atom. An atom has infinite energy. Currently, scientists are trying to tap this immense energy. I had this information from my knowledge of Physics. However, the new aspect which they put forth was why should we try only to harness energy in the atoms outside? It would be a greater approach and far more advantageous if we awaken the dormant energies present within our inner soul. This energy is boundless. It is bound to be always constructive, as it is divine in nature. Divine Knowledge teaches us how to do this practically.

Qs. As you are a faculty in the Mechanical Engineering Department, would you like to send a message across to the readers about how this Divine Knowledge is a scientific phenomenon?

Ans. In theory of Machines, there are two terms. One is – 'Kinematic Chain' and the other is – 'Mechanisms'. Kinematic Chain is made by conjunction of many links. However, none of the links are fixed. As a result, the movement of a kinematic chain is always random and unpredictable. The direction of rotation of the chain cannot be predicted. So, we cannot expect any controlled and accurate output from it. This is the reason why we need Mechanisms. In Mechanisms, we make at least one link as fixed. Today, whatever working machine you see is actually a form of Mechanism. In life, too, we need such a link which is fixed, so as to generate an output which is predictable and accurate as desired. I can say that this link is the Perfect Master (a Spiritual Guru). Once we are attached to this link, life too operates just like a properly functioning machine.

Ever heard of any in-out relationship between Eyes and Stomach?

A CROCODILE has a peculiar digestive system. The moment anything enters into its stomach, tears start dripping out from its eyes! What an unusual chemistry!

Friends, this is what I wish to tell you… Tears, which lack warmth of emotions or sentiments, are nothing more than the drops of salty water. You must have heard of a sarcastic phrase bearing my name, often attached to 'fictitious tears'… It is- 'crocodile tears'!

**********************************************************************************
How faithfully do you adhere to the tips of health and hygiene in your everyday life?

Are you familiar with the RACCOON? It bears a strong resemblance to a pussycat. However, unlike a cat, a raccoon eats wild fruits and seeds but in a commendable manner! Yes, it always washes and cleans its food in the river water before eating.

Because, I know and value the importance of cleanliness and sattwikta for leading a healthy life. You too should never compromise in this regard. Always remember a mathematical equation that 'Hygiene + Vegetarianism = Fit Body + Healthy Mind'.

**********************************************************************************
How many brains do you possess?

Of course, we all know very well that we have one brain. But, how many brains does a SILKWORM possess? … 2,3,4,… No! Go on incrementing the counter till it becomes 11. Yes! 11 brains in total! Can you just imagine?

Beware! I wish to alert you all with a cautionary suggestion that don't you ever run your wisdom-free mind in sewing a labyrinth of arguments. Else, you too would get trapped in the mesh of a cocoon as I entangle myself!

**********************************************************************************
How much weight can you lift?

Let's say that you weigh 'x' kilograms. Just try to find out the weight that you can lift in proportion to 'x'. Let's now repeat the exercise for an ant and compare the results. How much weight do you think that a little-trifle ant can lift? … Just hold your breaths… A staggering figure of 50 times its own weight!

That's right! I can easily carry things huge in proportion compared to my own dimensions. Reason being that I possess a never-say-die spirit. What if I have thin, hair-like legs! But, my resolution is strong, enormous, and mountain-like.

*********************************************************************************
Can you walk on a blade's edge?

Ouch!- This will be the instant exclamation, suffused with pain and drops of blood, if someone accidentally happens to run even his finger on the sharp edge of a blade. But does it apply to all or is there any exception? Yes! The great snail stands different! It can very easily and freely walk on the sharp edge of a razor!

Actually, there is a secret behind this peculiar characteristic of mine. When I walk, I release a viscous, gluey fluid called mucus; and, also, keep myself encased in a thick covering called mantle… Hey! I have heard that your path of bhakti is also like a sword's edge! So, take my smart advice- Generate the divine fluid of Devotion and cover yourself with a defensive shield of the Master's Commandments! INVITATION FOR NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS

Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan extends hearty wishes to all on the auspicious occasion of Indian New Year on 16th March, 2010. We take this grand opportunity to invite all our blog readers on 21st March, 2010 at Divya Dham Ashram(Qutubgarh Road, Punjab Khore), where His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji will enlighten us about the profound richness of Indian Culture through His invaluable words of wisdom. So, come and drench yourself in the holy showers of His blessings!

Heartiest New Year Wishes to All!

Possibly, many of you would have been confounded by these wishes. You must be wondering that it has been more than two months when we celebrated New Year on 1st January, 2010. So, how come renowned new year eve is being celebrated in the month of March!

But, dear readers, how many of you are aware of the fact that the aroma of sanctity rising from India's land, sky's scintillating stars and this whole universe is extending its hearty wishes to you on the dawn of the new year on the 16th of this month. India's rich heritage– our great saints and the holy treatises– all are bestowing their New Year wishes on this very day. According to our Indian calendar, Shukla pratipada of the month of Chaitra, i.e. 16th March this time, marks the beginning of the New Year for India. This time, it is going to be the 2067 th ‘Shobhana’ Samvatsar.

Honestly answer, were you aware about this New Year prior? If not, then, now that you have come to know about it, would you honour this day and consider it as the beginning of the New Year? And, if you already knew about it, would you have celebrated it with the same fervour as you celebrate the eve of 1st January? These are few questions that have been often getting a negative response. So, in order to discontinue this trend and furnish the foundations for the day when every Indian would respond affirmatively to such questions, we here present some rekindling facts and rational thoughts from His supremacy Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji.

According to the Indian calendar, on the day of chaitra shukla pratipada, the vibrancy, fervour, and freshness is automatically reflected from each and every particle of Nature. Not one but many ideologies declare it to be the first day of the New Year. For instance:

Nature dances and rejoices!

On the onset of Chaitra Shukla, extreme brutal cold nearly dies down. Cold dry winds turn into sweet, free flowing air. For the spring season, poet Kalidasa beautifully says– ‘सर्वंप्रिये चारूतरम बसन्ते!’ Shri Krishna remarks in the Holy Gita - "Amidst all seasons, I am the ‘spring’!" On the eve of Chaitra Shukla, supremacy of the spring season prevails and rules over the nature. New petals unfold on the branches. Flowers boom with sweet nectar. The rainbow colours of spring are seen everywhere. Bright sunny days elongate and dark nights become shorter. Each and every atom dances with new excitement and enthusiasm, as if it is ready to march ahead with new resolutions. The environment depicting this kind of aura, awareness, and progress certainly assures of the arrival of New Year time.

Season of Celebrations All Around!

With the beginning of Chaitra, from Kashmir to Kerala, festive mood spills all over. ‘Nauroj’ or ‘Navreh’ in Jammu & Kashmir, ‘Vaishakhi’ in Punjab, ‘Gudi Padwa’ in Maharashtra, ‘Yugadi’ in Andhra Pradesh, ‘Cheti Chand’ in Sindh, ‘Vishu’ in Kerela, ‘Rongali Bihu’ in Assam, ‘Poyala Vaishakh’ in Bengal, ‘Puthundu’ in Tamil Nadu– all of these festivities truly revive India's socio-cultural spirit. These festivals signal the dawn of the New Year in the real sense. During this time, Navratra also begins and all over India, Goddess Jagadamba's prayers laud loud. Hence, Chaitra Shukla is marked as the onset of the New Year with India's socio-cultural pride soaring high with rejuvenated spirits.

A Day of Historic Eminence!

If we look at historic dates and events, Chaitra Shukla pratipada appears as a queen of all. According to India's astrological calculations, on this day only, Lord Brahma created universe. It is described in the Brahman Puran that on this day, the process of creation of universe began-

चैत्रे मसि जगद ब्रह्मा ससर्ज प्रथमे अहनि
शुक्लपक्षे समग्रे तु सदा सूर्योदये सति

The 190th verse of the tenth chapter of Rigveda is evident in this context– samudraadarnavaadadhi samvatsaro ajaayata– meaning, from the gigantic oceanic waves sprang forth the Samvatsara. According to Smriti Kaustubh, on this auspicious day only, Lord Narayana incarnated Himself as Matsya avatar. It was on this pious day that Lord Rama was enthroned as the King of Ayodhya. In Dwaapar Yuga, Yudhishthira was also sworn in as the King on this day. This day is celebrated as the day of incarnation of the second Guru of Sikhs, Shri Guru Angad Dev Ji and saint Jhulelal of Sindh. Swami Dayanand Saraswati, as well, set the foundation stone of Arya Samaj on this benign day.

With such auspicious features on this brilliant and well-timed occasion, what to say if we, spirited by new resolutions, set the beginning of our day as the commencement of New Year! The need is to re-vitalise and revivify the respect for our Indian culture in the heart of every individual. And, so we all should celebrate our Indian New Year and melodise it with our traditional songs to impart new heights to our cultural evolution!

Moreover, if you feel that celebrating our own New Year would mean singing our own tunes and standing odd one out from the rest of the world, then please pay attention and analyse on the following three aspects:

1. If Japan can celebrate, in the native traditional style, its New Year day on its conventional date; If Myanmar can celebrate in the mid of April its New Year day ‘Tijaan’; Iran celebrates in mid of March its new year day ‘Nauroj’; China, according to Lunar calendar, celebrates during Jan 21- Feb21 its New Year day as Asrian; Thai and Cambodian people celebrate their new year in the month of April... then why we Indians can't celebrate the new year day on Chaitra Shukla pratipada according to our Indian calendar, Panchang?

2. If all our financial transactions and budget, the sessions in the schools and educational institutes, etc. consider 1st April as the day of commencement of the New Year, then why don’t we actually celebrate the beginning of the New Year on the day of Chaitra Shukla Pratipadha, which falls near around this period only?

3. If we abide by Panchang for all our auspicious rituals, fasts, marriages, festivities and other festivals, then why not the first day of every year?
